Marvel had a run and a half on Netflix where every other week it felt like a new hero was getting a series on the platform. The one that started it all was Charlie Cox as Daredevil and in my opinion it is not just the original but the best. The Punisher was good too, something about Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle is just perfect casting. It's been all quiet on the renewal front although it was assumed Daredevil would see a return, being arguably the flagship for Marvel on Netflix. The widely reviewed as 'meh' Iron Fist is returning but we've got better news!

Video games. The current whipping boy of misinformed old school media outlets, fuelled by the Trump administration, the World Health Organisation and the purely ignorant. Years of study as to whether video games are inherently bad for us drew a blank. They don't increase violence, no more so than films do. They aren't any more addictive than television. Despite this, one study to the contrary and the WHO making 'gaming disorder' a recognised illness has caused problems and Fortnite, being the most popular game in the world, has become a target.
It was HUGE news and something that came seemingly out of nowhere when Disney let go of writer/director James Gunn from his tenure as head of the Guardians of the Galaxy series. It was over jokes, made in poor taste, that he wrote on social media years ago, jokes he had publicly spoken about before and apologised for, but that came back to haunt him as the internet hit squad of social justice warriors put pressure on Disney as a whole to do something. We know how Dave Bautista felt about the sacking, but what of the others?
Hello my lovely patrons! So, this is a little peek behind the curtain of how the podcast is recorded and what kind of software we use. I love Princess Leia as a character. Not only did I think she was such a badass heroine and role model but she was also played by such a lovely and wholesome actress who was reportedly as amazing to be around for her wit and sense of humour as she was for her work ethic. Her passing hit the nerd culture we exist in hard, it came sudden and unexpected, a short while after the release of her memoirs. The vacuum left in the lives of those that knew her and followed her won't be filled, which leaves the logistics of Star Wars with a problem.
It probably goes without saying by now that we're really into Fortnite here at G.E. Whether you are a fan or not, this story is funny and heartfelt regardless of your feelings towards the battle royale portion of this game. I'm almost sure, by now, that you have seen Muselk, a popular YouTuber and streamer who recently has collaborated with Lazarbeam of the Let's Play network, and his attempt to rescue a fellow stranded player. EPIC certainly did and have immortalised the moment in-game, courtesy of the new update.
Back in 2016 I had the good fortune to work on a project I still remember fondly to this day. I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith and when I listened to a podcast interview where he said he got into writing comic books by being a fan and just going for it, I felt inspired. I was a comic book fan and I could just go for it. I had all the pieces for success; surely? Now, for me, there were two barriers to entry. I didn't...Want to read a never before seen script and see exclusive art from Jimmy and TenguArts' comic? Sign up to be a #patron now at $1 or higher here 😁

Disney have broken their contracts with James Gunn and he has been sacked off of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, a film he has personally written the script for and a series he has headed since the original film made it big at the box office. The reason? Old Tweets. He has been a victim of his older self as historic tweets have been brought to the forefront which has resulted in Disney having to take action due to the negative publicity. It's an interesting tale and one we are going to explore a little further.
Director and co-writer, Allan Ungar, brings together the cast of Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake, Stephen Lang as Victor “Sully” Sullivan and Mircea Monroe as Elena Fisher in this fifteen minute short film based off of the Uncharted franchise of video games. It's something we've all wanted to see and although Fillion was unavailable to portray Cayde-6 in the latest DLC for Destiny 2, we hope he's very available when Naughty Dog and Sony get in touch to cast this. We can dream; right? Which characters and who would you like to see cast in an Uncharted movie? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
On the grassy bank next to Tower Bridge in London, a bare chested homage to the brilliance of (Sir) Jeff Goldblum, appeared in the early hours of this morning. It instantly grabbed the worldwide trending reins of social media and was all down to NowTV, who coordinated all of this to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original (and best) Jurassic Park film. Shot at from a particular angle, Jeff appears to be lazily leaning against the bridge itself, and this might just be the best thing ever.
Jimmy checks out the newly updated Fortnite Season 5 map and all the cool new additions Epic Games have added in a hunt for his five favourites. It involved a lot of chasing after moving vehicles and dying as soon as he landed but he finally got there and managed to put together this short video. What are some of your favourite adds so far? Do you like the rifts (which we missed in our list of cool new stuff)?
Love it or hate it, Fortnite is here to stay, and EPIC have to be commended for how much time and effort they put into the game. Whether that is acting on player feedback or the amount of detail they put into cool reveals and the themes for each season. The recent one time only rocket launch event was a testament to that and the rifts and cracks in the universe it opened up have led to a marketing team's dream. In game, really random items like horse drawn characters keep appearing and this is now bleeding into the real world too.
We've been in a period of definite unrest with the site...why is that? It's been a little over a month of change and now the dust has begun to settle I'm slowly setting stuff back up. I've moved in to a new space I can call my own and that I have made look nice whilst also being functional for more writing and for the site. That does mean that a couple things have dropped by the wayside and I do apologise, I'm aiming to be way better with this, I swears it!
Jimmy logs in to Fortnite Battle Royale to watch the unique Rocket Event as it blasts off and kicks off the upcoming Season 5 narrative with an aerial view! Great aerial view of the rocket lifting off from the Super Villain base and of the aftermath! Seen whuilst playing via PS4. Rocket engine DID NOT open the bunker in Wailing Woods, we fell prey to rumour and checked it out for ourselves once finishing this edit. SORRY!
Disney sideline all Star Wars character spinoffs after Solo's performance at the box office, but is that the only reason and what comes next? *AUDIO QUALITY HAS AN ISSUE IN THIS ONE BUT PLEASE STICK WITH IT AS IT DOESN'T LAST FOREVER AND I'VE FIXED IT FOR NEXT TIME* Join Jimmy from ghoulishentertainment.com fortnightly as he talks about trying to turn his writing hobby into a career as he dabbles in nerd culture content and commentary. Fortnite is absolutely everywhere. Forget the crock of shit WHO diagnosis of Gaming Disorder and the media scare mongering about teens racking up double digit hours in a week and that being a sign of brain rot instead of bad parenting. Fornite is an addictive (playing right into their hands) free for all that you can enjoy with your friends and loved ones. Its simple formula has seen it go from strength to strength and as we head into Season 5, it's clear the snowball is only gaining pace!
Tom Holland is easily the best cinematic Spider-Man that there has ever been. Toby McGuire was too old and although his Peter Parker was good I didn't like his Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker was much too slick and cool but his Spider-Man was spot on. Tom's performance, both in and out of the iconic costume, is perfect and has been well received both in Spider-Man Homecoming and in Avengers Infinity War, but he's a real headache for Marvel and Kevin Fiege. He's got himself in hot water before, and I dare say this won't be the last time, but he's at it again and in BIG way!

The Fallout series, from the third game onwards, I've spent hundreds of hours in and I've loved every minute. They are fantastic sand box, open world, games that do a fantastic job balancing player freedom whilst constructing an interesting and well delivered narrative. When Bethesda shared the Vault Tech 'Please Stand By' image the day before yesterday on Instagram I rolled my eyes and just assumed it would probably be a Nintendo Switch or mobile title. I was VERY wrong.
Like most people, I too was pulled in by the hype for this game when it was announced and even went as far as to pre-order it (something I never do), completely ready to become an intrepid explorer in the wilds of space. I was pumped to side with one of the possible factions or go it alone as a pirate, in large scale space conflict mixed with Star Trek-esque planetside exploring. It burned like hell that all these features were barely even skin deep and the game did not deliver on many of the promised features. Two years on though, it refuses to die.
